How you can protect your Account

Be careful not to share your password in emails or other communication. Don't forward emails from Umeand to other people or group members, emails from us may have sensitive information about your account. Be aware that scammers may create fake website. Check the website's URL before you enter your login information, type umeand.com into your browser, to get to the umeand website. 


  • Protect your password - Use different passwords for the different websites you use. Using the same password for several websites can compromise your personal information if one of those services has a security breach. Always use different passwords for different website services.


  • Use a strong password - A strong password uses a mixture of letters, numbers and symbols, including upper and lower characters. It should be relatively uncommon and must be a minimum of 8 characters or more to ensure a high level of security.


  • Regularly change your password - If an unverified source accesses your password, changing it often can reduce the chance of it being used to gain access to your account.


  • Keep your firmware/anti-virus software up to date - The more up to date your firmware/antivirus software is, the more secure your system will be.


  • Be careful when opening links and attachments in emails - If you open a link in an email that takes you to a page where you’re required to enter any personal details, such as passwords or payment information, make sure the website is legitimate.


  • Don’t share your poll links or group pages with people you don't know. Only accept members you have invited to join your group event. If you are not sure about a request to join your group, do not accept it.


  • Always Log out from you Umeand account - Whether you’re at work, school, the library, or simply using a device that isn’t your own, remember to log out after using your to prevent others from gaining access.


  • Never click suspicious links, even if they appear to come from a friend or a company you know.


Note: No one at Umeand will email you and ask you to disclose or verify your Umeand password, credit card, or bank account details.


How to identify a suspicious email

If you received an email from Umeand and you are not sure, here are some key tips to identifying a suspicious email:

We'll never ask you for:

  • Your personal information over email.
  • Payment and personal information such as credit card number, debit card number, date of birth, location, etc.
  • Account password.
  • Payments via a 3rd party email.
  • To download anything from our emails.


What to do if you suspect an email is suspicious

Spammers and phishers can’t get any information from you unless you give it to them.

  • Do not respond to a suspicious email or request to join your group event from anyone you are unsure about.
  • Don’t click any links or download any attachments in the email.
  • Delete the suspicious email from your inbox immediately.


What to do if you had replied or clicked a suspicious link or shared personal information

We’ll never send email you with an attachment to download. If suspect you have clicked on a suspicious email or link. We recommend you change your Umeand password, and to also change your password on any other websites where you use the same password. To contact your bank if you think, your financial details have been compromised. 


What to do if you suspect unusual activity on your Umeand account.

If you notice any of the following occurring on your Umeand account unexpectedly, your account may have been taken over.

  • Your password is no longer working
  • You are unable to reset a new password, for example, you have reset a new password but you didn’t get an email from Umeand to verify your account
  • The email address associated with your account has changed.
  • Your dashboard or group pages has disappeared, unknown activities or subscription changes have been made on your account.
  • If you are unable to reset your password or access your account, contact us.
